Wounds are serious injuries and a long-term gauge of how close you are to death. When you are reduced to 0 HP, you gain 1 Wound and the Dying condition until you regain HP. While Dying, attacking or casting spells causes 1 more Wound unless you succeed on a DC 10 STR save; taking damage while Dying causes 2 Wounds (3 on a crit). HP can be recovered quickly, but Wounds usually take much longer to heal (typically 1 per Safe Rest). You die when you have taken 6 Wounds unless an ability changes that.
